Eau Claire Area Chamber of Commerce Launches National Civics Bee®

Eau Claire, Wisconsin - The Eau Claire Area Chamber of Commerce is excited to announce the 2025 National
Civics Bee®, a competition aimed at encouraging middle school students to engage in civics and contribute to
their communities. This event, organized in partnership with The Civic Trust® of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce
Foundation, invites any middle school student in grades 6-8 from public, private, charter, and home schools to
participate.

Middle school students in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade from public, private, charter, and home schools are invited to
take part in the first-round of civics essay competition. The competition begins with a 750-word civics essay
where students are asked to identify a community issue and propose how they could help improve it. Student
will include the individuals or organizations who could work together to accomplish the solution. Essays should
incorporate at least one Founding Principle and one Civic Virtue, as outlined in the provided 2025 National
Civics Bee® Essay Guide. This guide offers tips and resources to help students formulate their ideas and
strengthen their essays.

After a distinguished panel of judges review the essays, the top 20 students selected from the essay round will
advance to a live quiz event to be held in Eau Claire, spring 2025. Finalists will compete for various prizes, with
the first-place winner receiving a $500 cash prize. The top three finalists will go on to compete in the state
competition hosted by Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce in Madison.

The deadline for essay submissions is February 4, 2025, by 11:59 PM EST. To access the essay guide, learn more
