On Monday, US Senate candidate Eric Hovde visited the Eau Claire Chamber to discuss his plans for office if elected this fall. Hovde is centering his campaign on financial security, domestic security, international security, and polarization between policymakers. Eric Hovde is running against incumbent candidate Tammy Baldwin in the November 5th election.
Hovde is a proponent for fighting sex trafficking in the US. The Hovde Foundation, a family run organization that owns ten Hovde Homes around the world, works to keep children off the streets and give single mothers shelter. It also provides drug abuse resources and recovery centers for those who need it.
Regarding his policies, Hovde blames rising food costs on the federal deficit, touching on how it will effect future generations in America. "When you deficit spend, all you do is rob from the future...leaving our younger generations deprived of their economic future." Hovde said the Defend the Police movement left devastating consequences in most major cities, including police force statistics since the peak of the movement and how it has contributed to illegal immigration. To address international security, Hovde discussed conflict abroad like US's involvement and withdraw from Afghanistan. Hovde's last biggest issue is the country's divide. "I think we are all living in our own echo chambers, we don't digest news from the other side." Hovde advocates for working together to get things done in order to "heal our country."
