December 1, 2024: First day to circulate nomination papers
December 27, 2024: Incumbents must file notification for noncandidacy
January 7, 2025: Last day to file Declaration of Candidacy (Form EL-162), Nomination Papers (Form EL-169), and Campaign Finance Registration Statement (Form CF-1)

If necessary, the Spring Primary will be held February 17, 2025. Note: a primary is held if more than two candidates are running for the same seat on your ballot.

Some key non-partisan offices, both statewide and local, are up for re-election in Wisconsin with outcomes that could make for major changes for the future of Wisconsin.

Statewide Elections 
Supt. of Public Instruction
This position is currently held by Jill Underly, former superintendent of the Pecatonica School District, on her first 4-year term. As the leader of Wisconsin's Department of Public Instruction, this seat advances public education and promote learning throughout the state. Underly is challenged by Jeff Wright, superintendent at Sauk Prairie School District, who was also named 2024 Administrator of the Year by Wisconsin Rural Schools Alliance.

State Supreme Court
This is an important office on the ballot as three-term Justice Ann Walsh Bradley is not seeking re-election. although this is a non-partisan election, the results could switch the now progressive majority to conservative, challenging the popular topic of abortion in the state. Two known candidates have been announced; Waukesha County Circuit Court Judge and former Waukesha County district attorney Brad Schimel, and Dane County Circuit Court Judge Susan Crawford, a former prosecutor who took cases related to women's rights. If elected, they will serve their first ten-year term.

District III State Appeals Court
This seat is also up for re-election with Judge Lisa Stark returning on the ballot for a second six-year term. This position corrects circuit court errors, becoming legal precedent for future court cases. There has yet to be announced opposing candidates.

Local Elections 
Eau Claire County Judgeships

The circuit court of Eau Claire County has six branches with one judge each serving six year terms. Branch one is held by John Manydeeds (2028), branch two with Douglas Hoffer (2026), branch 3 is held by Emily Long (2030), branch four being Jon Theisen (2030), branch five with Sarah Harless (2030), and branch six held by Beverly Wickstrom (2028). Judge Hoffer was appointed in August of 2024 to fill the vacancy of Judge Michael Schumacher.

Eau Claire City Council
This city council features 11 total members including the president, with five at Large that are on the 2025 ballot. These five seats are currently occupied by Kate Felton, Larry Mboga, Joshua Miller, Charlie Johnson, and Roderick Jones, who serve three-year terms.

Altoona City Council
This council has an elected Mayor, 6 City Council members by district, and an appointed City Administrator. The seats are currently filled by elected Mayor Brendan Pratt, Dale Stuber of District 1 (wards 1, 2, 14), Timothy Lima of District 2 (wards 3, 6, 13), a vacant District 3 seat (wards 4, 5), Matthew Biren of District 4 (wards 7, 8), Kaitlyn Leopold of District 5 (wards 9, 10), and Susan Rowe of District 6 (wards 11, 12, 15). The appointed City Administrator is Mike Golat. Applicants for these positions must reside in the district they are running for.

Eau Claire School Board
The board consists of seven total members serving three-year terms. The seven seats are occupied by Tim Nordin, Lori Bica, Stephanie Farrar, Marquell Johnson, Erica Zerr, Joshua Clements, and Jarrett Dement. Stephanie Farrar (clerk/governance officer), Tim Nordin (president), and Marquell Johnson (board member) will be up for re-election in the Spring.

Altoona School Board
The board has five total members who serve three-year terms. The five seats are currently filled by Jeremy Zook, Hillarie Roth, Rich Hager, Lauren Otto, and Nathan Simonson. Rich Hager (clerk) and Jeremy Zook (president) are expected to be on the 2025 ballot.
