Altoona Mayor
The City of Altoona is governed by a mayor and a 6 member city council, who all serve a 3 year term. Each City Council member is elected by districts, and each member represents about 1,270 people.
This spring the mayor is up for election. Council districts, 1, 2, and 3, will be up for election April 2025 and districts 4, 5, and 6 are up for election the following year in 2026.
The current mayor is Braden Pratt. Mayor Pratt is unopposed for reelection on April 2.
Election Timeline
Dec. 1, 2023: First day to circulate Nomination Papers (Candiates for Counical President need 200-400 signatures)
December 23, 2023: Incumbents to file Declaration of Candidacy OR
Notification of Noncandidacy by 5 p.m.
(City Hall Closed December 23 & 24)
January 2, 2024: Last day to file Declaration of Candidacy, Nomination Papers
and Campaign Finance Registration Statement
All papers and forms are due in the City Clerk's Office by 5 p.m.
January 9, 2024: Drawing for order of candidate names on ballot
Will take place in City Clerk’s Office at 9 a.m.
February 20, 2024: Spring Primary (if necessary)
April 2, 2024: Spring Election
April 16, 2024: Council Organizational Meeting
Newly elected members take their seats on the Council
